Also on the Universal Serial Bus Controllers it is showing I have two "USB Root Hub" and two "Via Tech 3038 PCI to USB Univeral Host Contoller" I hope someone can make some sense out of all this. When I click on this it shows 2 devices both with yellow ? and red X's through them, the devices it shows are CI Card and PCI Ethernet Controler. In System Properties in my device manager tab I have a yellow ? showing on Other Devices. Could someone take a look at this and give me your opinion on what this pinhead had me do? This just does not look right to me. I can follow directions pretty well and you all have helped me out in the past. I am sorry but I really am not computer savay. I use Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter to access the internet through my local cable company. Looking at the IRQ log it looks like she had me put things in 2 times? I do not use the USB or dial-up I have an external Toshiba PCX1100U Modem. Well long story short I was a basket case and just let it go. The last woman I got was rude and just told me she had spent all the time she could with me and she was through even though I told her I had what looked to me like some conflicts in my hardware.

What a nightmare ! I had to keep calling them so they could tell me the next step and I never got the same person. If you chose one device that you can not manually configure go to another one and try that.I have been having some problems lately with my computer freezing up and some problems with start up ( not wanting to completely load on startup etc.) Several months back I had the idiots at Gateway tell me I needed to take everything to zero and start over. It may not be possible to do this will all of the present devices not working so do one at a time and reboot then recheck the Device Manager. You will then be able to set the IRQ and DMA as required. To do this right click on the nonworking device and left click on Proprieties, in the Drop Down Menu, in the next window to open left click on the Resources Tab and then left click on the box beside Use Automatic Settings. It’s much more likely that the devices not working have got their Resources messed up and you may need to manually configure these.

You need to open the Device Manager by left clicking on Start, and then right clicking on My Computer and left clicking on Proprieties from the drop down menu, then left click on the Hardware Tab in the Next Window that opens and then left click on Device Manager.Īnd devices without installed Drivers will be listed with a Yellow Triangle and a Black ! through it.

Out of the 3 Possible Drivers as these are Creative Sound Blaster Live Drivers you shouldn’t need any drivers as the Windows Install Disc should support this device.Īs for the Ethernet these 2 Gigabit Drivers listed are both Intel Drivers and these two should be with most versions of XP so what is being shown in the Device Manager here for these items? Though if you are using the original version of XP the Ethernet Drivers may not be present. There are 3 possible Drivers for the audio and 7 for the LAN.
